Missing Pieces charmed me from the get-go and wouldn’t let go! I was quickly invested in discovering who Donny really is and what his life is to reveal as the story unfolds. I thoroughly enjoyed his daydreams and wondered when or if they would turn into reality, or divulge other truths pertinent to the Rain Pearls. Shelly Larsen knows how to a paint a vivid picture with colorful prose and description. She invites you to dive deeply with her into her inventive imagination. What a treat! There were sweet moments interlaced with tragic ones, magic juxtaposed with the ordinary and familiar, young love and the angst of teenage-hood, all working together to make Missing Pieces both relatable and exciting. Well done! The book was fun, quirky, endearing and well written. Shelly does a great job of keeping her readers guessing at what’s next. I am interested to see how the story continues to unfold and eventually resolve in the second installment!Product details

Perceptive and brilliant, the writer reveals the secret world of Rain Pearls to its readers. This is a great book to snuggle up with as the reader’s imagination is sparked by the continual emotional roller coaster ride through amazing characters and their personal struggles.
The protagonist, young and meek EMBERLY, is in rigorous training to be the next new Enchantress. She’s lonely and aches to see her family again, but has a much higher calling. She tries but there’s no pleasing her tutor Havana. Preforming magic and repeating facts is stressful for a highly sensitive five year old. Havana’s intolerance didn’t make it any easier.
The antagonist, HAVANA a tall thin framed wizard deeply despises children. She calls them, “messy little crumb grabbers who consume everything in sight. But worst of all they don’t know how to keep a secret.” The character desire is clear and filled with telling details like her “violet” eyes and that she sit in a worn leather chair.
TALNA, is an exclusive member of the ancient history and secret of the noble cabal. Her mission had been simple, or so she thought. The character development is direct and compelling. As a reader nothing effectively pulls me into a story more than a BIG secret.
Rain Pearls features quality writing, good editing, and a story that makes me want to read it again and tell my friends about. Here’s a small bit of reader inside information. When an Enchantress, cries her tears create Rain Pearls. I enjoyed reading to find out the details of this new unique world.
This story was FANTASTIC!! I really love the characters, totally invested in them, and the book ended leaving me wanting more. I hope book 2 is coming soon.
Love this book! Read it, you'll have a hard time putting it down. They should make this into a movie. The tree house and the bird ride would be great on the big screen. I was so invested in the characters from the beginning. I'm sure you will love it too.
