"I'm trying to get all my worst days out of the way first, then stacking all the rest in order of ascending greatness. That way, I should always look forward to tomorrow, and thank the Lord that yesterday is gone."
"I think that plan won't work, but good luck with it all the same."
"Thanks, Shobaloba."
"You're welcome, Pobberkins. Y'know, if I ever write a book, I'll make sure to put the chapters in order of ascending greatness. That way my readers will begin with low expectations, but those who persist with it will be continually rewarded."
"It's a good idea."

How many Tomids does it take to change a light bulb? What use for light bulbs when the puns shine out of his farce!

A rip-roaring swashbuckler about several inept pirates giving it a go and having a blast. BongoTree is a jolly romp through the English language. A veritable smorgasbord of satirical wordplay.

----------

My life this is depressing. Have not read this book in years, and I don't even think I want to. I always knew chapter one was bad, but even skipping further into the book I'm finding that I don't much care for any of it anymore. It was of its time, and it was written for one person only. Me. Back then I couldn't stop reading it. I thought it was utterly glorious. Totally worth the effort and toil. It was the greatest book ever and the world would love me for it. But even I can't read it now. I've moved on. How depressing. Years wasted on this gash, perfecting it, polishing it. For nothing. For less than nothing. I gained nothing and lost lots. Where did I go wrong? One thing is for true. Nobody ever worked so hard on a book which achieved so little.

This book is so unique I'm having a hard time putting my feelings into words. Even the cover art is strange, in that I can't see any relation to the story itself.

On the plus side, this story does have a certain casual humor that some may find appealing. At its best, the light-hearted writing reminds me of Douglas Adam's slightly demented Nephew (That's a compliment.) However, I found the book too silly and had a hard time getting into it. The author is just too damn whimsical and the novel has a weird tone as a result. The story takes place in a world where the laws of physics dont apply (The "pirates" use their cannon to shoot a crew member up into the crow's nest) and where leprechauns exist and live on a weird island where they buy things from the "pirates" impromptu market. This was part of the problem for me as a reader, in a world with no rules and no limits it's hard to find a reason to really care about the characters and their actions. Besides, mostly what they do is talk at length about strange topics that don't entirely make sense. I found it hard to be interested in them.

Overall, I felt as if the author wrote this story for himself to enjoy, rather than the public at large. But I would bet there are one or two weirdos out there who will enjoy this kind of thing. It just wasn't really for me.

(Originally planned to give 2/5 starts but I bumped it up to 3/5 since the book is well edited and I didn't see any mistakes or typos, a rare thing for kindle books these days.)
